The Sabarmati River is one of the major west-flowing rivers of India. The bridge was named after the former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary on 25 December 2021 by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The project was started in year 2018 and was finally completed and set for the inauguration ceremony till June 2023. The bridge was finally inaugurated on 27th August 2023 by the hand of sh. Narender Modi the current prime minister of India.

For the age group between 12 years to 59 years, the ticket price is Rs 30, for the Senior citizens and children from the age of 3 years to 12 years will have to pay Rs 15. Entry for kids below the age of 3 years and differently-abled people are free.
